The short answer: BGMI Lite is confirmed to launch in India by the end of 2026. Krafton India made it official on August 16, 2026. What isn’t confirmed yet is the exact calendar date, and this page tracks the difference between what Krafton has actually said and the guesses floating around.
BGMI Lite release date: what is confirmed
- Launch window: by the end of 2026, confirmed by Krafton India.
- Region: India, under the Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) branding.
- Exact date: not announced. Anyone quoting a specific day right now is guessing.
- Type: a lighter build of BGMI for lower-end phones and smaller data plans.
Why the date says “end of 2026” and not a fixed day
Krafton announced BGMI Lite early, ahead of the global PUBG Mobile Light rollout, to confirm the India version is coming. Big mobile launches almost always start with a window like this, then lock a date closer to release once testing and store approvals are done. So “end of 2026” is a genuine target, not a placeholder, but expect the precise day to land in the final weeks before launch.
BGMI Lite pre-registration is open, the release date isn’t
BGMI Lite now has its own Google Play listing from Krafton, and pre-registration for it’s open. It’s a separate listing from the global PUBG Mobile Light, so registering for one doesn’t cover the other. See how to pre-register for BGMI Lite.
Pre-registration opening doesn’t mean a release date has been set. Those are two different things. Krafton India has still not named an exact launch day, only the end of 2026 window.
There’s still no iOS listing, and that is a timeline signal
Pre-registration being open makes it easy to assume both app stores are ready. They aren’t. We queried the India App Store for the BGMI Lite bundle id com.krafton.bgmilite on 2 September 2026 and it returns no result. Android has a live pre-register button. iOS has no page at all.
That’s worth watching, because the launch is currently one storefront short. The full BGMI game has been on the India App Store since 17 August 2021, seller KRAFTON Inc, and sits on version 4.5.0 today, so the publishing route exists and Krafton uses it. The absence of a BGMI Lite page is a choice or a matter of timing, not a platform barrier.
For anyone tracking the date, this gives you a concrete early indicator. An App Store product page normally appears some weeks before launch, not on the day itself. If one shows up for BGMI Lite, the release is close. If it never does, the end-of-2026 launch is Android only.
Global PUBG Mobile Light vs BGMI Lite timeline
| Milestone | Global (PUBG Mobile Light) | India (BGMI Lite) |
|---|---|---|
| Announced | August 2026 | August 16, 2026 |
| Pre-registration | Opened August 25, 2026, open now | Open now on its own Google Play listing |
| Launch | 12 November 2026 on the App Store listing, checked 2 September 2026 | By end of 2026, no day named |
| Platforms | Google Play and App Store, in 46 of the 53 countries we checked | Google Play only, no iOS listing |
The 12 November date isn’t a BGMI Lite date
A specific day has started appearing in coverage of the Lite launch, and it’ll spread. Here’s exactly where it comes from and why it doesn’t apply to India.
We pulled the App Store listing for the global PUBG Mobile Light on 2 September 2026. It carries a release date of 12 November 2026 at 08:00 UTC, seller Tencent Mobile International Limited, version 4.6.0, 2.50 GB download. We then checked 53 country storefronts, and 46 of them show that same listing with that same date.
India is one of the seven that return nothing. There’s no PUBG Mobile Light listing on the India App Store, so 12 November describes a product Indian players can’t download in any case. It’s the global game, published by the Tencent international label, and India doesn’t receive it.
BGMI Lite is the India build, published by KRAFTON, Inc., and Krafton India has named no launch day for it. End of 2026 remains the only commitment on record. If you see 12 November attached to BGMI Lite anywhere, the writer has merged two different games.
What is still unknown
- The exact BGMI Lite launch date
- Download size, minimum device specs, maps and modes
- Any launch rewards for Indian players
How to be ready for launch day
Free up a few gigabytes of storage, pre-register on the BGMI Lite Google Play listing, follow the official BGMI social channels for the date announcement, and ignore any “BGMI Lite APK” or fixed date circulating now, since the game isn’t out. This page updates the moment Krafton India confirms a real date.

What does “end of 2026” really mean?
Krafton India gave a window, not a date, and that wording matters. A window usually means the build is still in testing and that store and compliance approvals aren’t finished. Studios commit to a specific day only once those steps are locked, which is why exact dates normally surface in the final weeks before launch rather than months ahead.
Read practically, “end of 2026” points to the closing months of the year. It’s a genuine target rather than a placeholder, but it leaves real room to move.
Why India usually follows the global release
Battlegrounds Mobile India is a separate, India-specific title with its own build, servers and regulatory requirements. That extra layer is why India rarely launches at the same moment as the global game. The pattern holds here: global PUBG Mobile Light pre-registration opened on August 25, 2026, with November 2026 reported as its launch window, while BGMI Lite has an open pre-registration but still only an end of 2026 window for launch.
BGMI history shows how variable this can be. India has seen delayed launches, staged rollouts and periods where the game was unavailable entirely, so a broad window from Krafton India is an honest signal rather than a stalling tactic.
What could delay the BGMI Lite release date?
A lighter client still has to hold up across a huge range of budget Android phones, and that testing takes time. Store review and India-specific compliance add further steps, and Krafton may also choose to stagger the launch after the global rollout so it can act on what it learns there.
None of this is a prediction of delay. It’s simply why a company gives a window instead of a date, and why you should treat any fixed date you see elsewhere as invented.
How to track the real announcement
Follow the official BGMI channels and the India store listing, and nothing else. Krafton India announces through its own social accounts and the official site first, so that is where a real date will appear.
Ignore third-party dates, countdown posts and YouTube thumbnails claiming inside information. Through the old PUBG Mobile Lite era, fake India release dates circulated for years and none of them were real.
